There are a number of GIS sites which simply act as signposts or indexes to other GIS material.  Some of these signpost lists are:

Edinburgh GIS WWW Server A useful list of GIS resources maintained by the GIS group at Edinburgh University.
GeoJob Source Spatial Data Resources.  A very good site which has links to geographical related research sites, government sites, bibliographies, tutorials etc.
GIS Development.net Main objective of the portal is information dissemination and knowledge sharing. www.GISdevelopment.net is in constant process of integrating the content base of activities in the field of Geographic Information Sciences from all over the world and make this information available to all.
GIS Lounge GIS Lounge is a GIS information portal. The purpose of this site is to provide introductory text for issues relating to GIS as well as pointers to further information.
ICLS, Harvard University The Institute of Cultural Landscape Studies, Harvard University provides a useful list of GIS resources.
Internet Sources of GIS, Lloyd Reed Map Collection Internet Sources of Information about Geographic Information Systems from McMaster University Libraries, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Project-Manager Describes itself as 'the complete guide for anyone who must plan, implement and complete a commercial project.' An American approach to Project Management aimed at the industrial sector but some good stuff here.
Search/Browse the Argus Clearinghouse Describes itself as the 'Internet's Premier Research Library'. Type in 'GIS' to its search box to access the considerable GIS materials available. The site even rates the materials on a scale of 1 to 5.
Geographic Information Science at SFU A compendium of GIS sites, orginally compiled by Brian Klinkenberg and updated at Simon Fraser University.
GeoScience Information Society
The Geoscience Information Society facilitates the exchange of information in the geosciences through cooperation among scientists, librarians, editors, cartographers, educators, and information professionals.
