Many UNIGIS students are returning to study after several, in some cases, many years away from education. At the beginning of the course, some students are understandably concerned that their study skills may need revising. Fortunately, a number of organisations have generously placed their study skills guides onto the Web. Below are some sites which help students to develop study skills.

Cite them right How to organise bibliographical references.
Guide to Effective Learning The University of Birmingham's Effective Study Guides. Provides links to other good online learning sites.
Harvard Electronic Referencing This University of the West of England page explains how to reference electronic sources - Harvard System.
Harvard Referencing This University of the West of England page defines the Harvard referencing style in depth and also provides details of how to implement the Harvard system.
Mantex In the past some students have expressed concern about things like referencing and essay construction. This web site gives some useful guidance.
Library - Harvard Referencing Guide The University of Sheffield guide to Harvard referencing.
Study Skills Online An electronic guide to some of the best ways to study by Martin Greenhow, Brunel University.
Ten Steps to a Research Paper This pathfinder from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is intended to assist the undergraduates in their research paper assignment. It focuses on the research process of identifying, accessing and collecting information relevant to the topic. The "Ten Steps" will guide you through an orderly process from defining your topic to citing the sources.
