AGILE- Education
On November 10, 2004, the new web site for the AGILE Working Group on Education was made public.
The Working Group on Education of AGILE, the Association of Geographic Information Laboratories of Europe, has around 40 members. Everybody who is interested in the working group and who will actively participate is most welcome.
The site should become an information source for everyone interested in education in the field of GeoInformation, and is certainly not limited to members of the WG only: Everybody is welcome to view all the information on this site, registered members of the working group can add to and comment on (most of) the content.

UNIGIS Annual Conference
2nd - 3rd December, 2004, Port Elizabeth Technikon, South Africa
The theme for this year's conference is "GIS Strategies for Africa". The conference will be held at the Saasveld Campus, George.

8th - 12th November, 2004, Shangai, China
The 23rd International Conference on conceptual modelling. There will be an accompanying workshop on conceptual modelling for geographic information systems which has a call for papers (deadline 1st June 2004):

URISA 42nd International Conference
7th - 10th November, 2004, Reno, Nevada, USA
URISA's Annual Conference and Technical Exposition features management and policy discussions of IT/GIS issues affecting urban and regional governments. Technical sessions, technical tours and social events are also held at the 5-day event.

AGI 2004
18th -20th October, Chelsea Village, London, UK
The AGI Annual Event will consist of the renowned AGI Conference and, for the first time, a new more integrated AGI Exhibition. Representatives from UNIGIS UK will be attending this conference.

InterGIS Summer School
29th September - 3rd October 2004, Amsterdam, Netherlands
The theme of this year's summer school in Amsterdam will be land use modelling.

GeoSolutions 2004
29th - 30th September, 2004, NEC, Birmingham, UK
GeoSolutions 2004 is Europe's leading event for professionals looking for business solutions through Geographic Information. The venue for 2004 has moved from London to the NEC Birmingham. Representatives from UNIGIS UK will be attending this conference.

UNIGIS International Summer School
22nd - 29th September, 2004, Salzburg, Austria
The already traditional series of 'UNIGIS summer schools' is being continued in 2004 with an English language course on 'Digital Terrain Modelling, Analysis and Visualisation' from Sept 22-29 in Salzburg, Austria. An international and interdisciplinary group of participants will familiarize themselves with this topic through lectures, topical workshops and hands-on exercises.

URISA 2004 Caribbean GIS Conference
13th -17th September, 2004, Barbados.
The theme of this year's conference is "GIS - An instrument for National and Regional Development".

EUGISES 2004
2nd -5th September, 2004, Villach, Austria.
The fourth European education GIS seminar.

GI-Days 2004
1st - 2nd July , 2004, Münster, Germany
the theme of this year's conference is "Geoinformation and Mobility - from research to applications".

GeoSpatial World 2004
May 12th-14th 2004, Miami Beach, Florida, USA.

Education Symposium

The Education Symposium will be held in conjunction with GeoSpatial World 2004. Professor Mauro Salvemini and Professor Michael Goodchild will be keynote speakers. The agenda also includes presentations covering diverse international teaching and research activities including wireless learning, Free University of Amsterdam; The Online GIS Curriculum Assessment System, Fort Hayes University USA; Graphical Telephone Directory In GIS Environment, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, Archeological and Homeland Security research.

This inaugural event has been eveloped to meet the needs of central and local government and the public services. GeoNorth has been specifically designed for government and public services, combining a seminar programme with a showcase featuring the very best of Geographic Information solutions. UNIGIS will be represented at this event.

GeoMedia Poster Competition
Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions for Education is pleased to announce the third annual Intergraph Best Practices Awards and Poster Competition. These two worldwide competitions recognize projects and programs based on Intergraph’s technology. The award programs are open to educators or students who currently use Intergraph technology, as well as those who are new to Intergraph technology.
Students from around the world are invited to display their use of Intergraph's GeoMedia technology by submitting posters. An awards ceremony for winners will be held at the GeoSpatial World 2004 event, May 12-14 in Florida. Winners will receive financial support for their studies as well as complimentary registration to the GeoSpatial World Conference.
The closing date for the competition is 14th February, 2004.

GeoMedia Best Practices Awards
Educators are encouraged to submit entries that illustrate innovative use of GeoMedia technology in both higher education and schools. Winners will receive financial support for their studies as well as complimentary registration to the GeoSpatial World Conference in Florida, 2004. An awards ceremony for winners will be held at the GeoSpatial World event.
The closing date for the competition is14th February, 2004.
